Music Archive Known bug

Date: July 25, 2002
Known versions affected by the bug: 1.00.168
Fixed in version: 1.01.175

Bug description:

Lose of genre information
When a song is updated (is changed in size or date) then Music Archive deletes all information in the database that is connected to the physical song file. Unfortunately an error in one of the default database files does that Music Archive also deletes the genre of the song from the database. When a song is updated the only information reed from the file by Music Archive is the size and date of the new file. The genre is not reed and therefore is the updated song registered in Music Archive without a genre.

The genre information is only deleted from the Music Archive database. Genre information saved in the song file in an ID3 tag is not changed or deleted.

Solution:

The problem can be fixed by replacing the DefaultSchema.DB file in the Music Archive program folder. The file should only be used on version 1.0 build 168 of Music Archive and not on any newer version. The file exists in two versions, an English and a Danish version. The fix only stops the problem it doesn’t fix the genre information that have been lost. The next version of Music Archive will automatically fix the fault and reed the missing genre information of the ID3 tags of the music files.

Download the new DefaultSchema.DB file: Danish version, English version.
